ABOUT this conference

On Wednesday, September 28th, 2022, the Biden-Harris administration hosted the first White House Conference on Hunger, Health, and Nutrition in 50 years. This significant event was aimed at making ending hunger a national priority. Included in the conversation were and still are anti-hunger and nutrition advocates, food companies, healthcare community members, government entities (local, state, territorial, and Tribal governments), people with lived experiences, and all Americans. The Conference launched a national plan outlining how our country will achieve the goal of ending hunger in America.

What came out came out of this conference

The Conference laid out a transformational vision for ending hunger and reducing diet-related disease by 2030. The National Strategy was broken down into five pillars with actions the federal government will take to drive solutions to these challenges was released. The pillars include:

  • Pillar 1 - Improve Food Access and Affordability

  • Pillar 2 - Integrate Nutrition and Health

  • Pillar 3 - Empower Consumers to Make and Have Access to Healthy Choices

  • Pillar 4 - Support Physical Activity for All

  • Pillar 5 - Enhance Nutrition and Food Security Research
