Apr 24, 2024, Food is Medicine National Summit, Boston, MA. IHRTF networked on a national level, sharing the success of the RxFFV program in Idaho.

Apr 11, 2024. The IHRTF Hunger Summit Pillar 5 Action Team shared their research with the attendees of the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Meeting. Their poster presentation illustrated the use of participatory research to engage stakeholders from all 44 Idaho counties in developing a statewide research agenda.

Apr 11, 2024. The IHRTF attended the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Meeting in Moscow, ID. Dietitians and other nutrition professionals from around the state learned about the IHRTF and partnership opportunities.

Mar 7, 2024. Members of the IHRTF SNAP/WIC Engagement Team provided an overview of SNAP to refugees attending an English language class hosted by Glocal Community Partners, a group mobilizing, training, and connecting volunteers with New American neighbors in friendship.

Mar 1, 2024. In celebration of National Nutrition Month, IHRTF featured stories on the farm-to-fork aspects of nutrition and highlighted other Idaho organizations working towards a healthier state.

Feb 20, 2024. The Idaho legislature does not permit the state program to conduct SNAP outreach. But thanks to a grant from the Albertsons Company Foundation's Nourishing Neighbors Campaign, the IHRTF will be created educational materials and educating community groups about SNAP.

Apr 29, 2024. At the IHRTF University Food Security Coalition, three Idaho State University faculty presented Running on Empty: Food Insecurity in Collegiate Athletics. Presenters included Jen Reader, MHE, RDN, LD, Natalie Christensen, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD, and Dr. Barbara Gordon, RDN, FAND.

Apr 29, 2024. Idaho Gives. The IHRTF joined with other Idaho nonprofits to jointly encourage Idahoans to help support the mission of serving our communities.

Apr 25, 2024. The IHRTF, as a member of the Idaho Interfaith Roundtable Against Hunger (IIRAH), participated in the IIRAH Spring Forum, Many Needs, One Idaho: Addressing Urban and Rural Hunger in the Gem State, held at Boise State University.

Apr 16, 2024. Dr. Alejandro Necochea, Medical Director, and Nicole Harper, Community Health Worker, with St. Luke’s Health Partners discussed their implementation of the RxFFV program at the quarterly Idaho Produce Prescription Collaborative (IdPPC).

Mar 15, 2024. The Task Force and the Department of Education collaborated on ways to expand summer feeding sites to cover the lack of Summer EBT for Idahoan children.

Feb 5, 2024. Jaime Hansen, Executive Director for Swipe Out Hunger, discussed what Swipe Out Hunger is doing to combat university food insecurity at the quarterly University Food Security Coalition meeting. Kasey Giles, IHRTF AmeriCorps Vista, shared a slide presentation on the history of National Nutrition Month and ideas on how universities can engage in this national event. 

Feb 1, 2024. The IHRTF kicked off a collaborative project with Boise State University School of Public Service. Working with Dr. Ben Larsen, a team of graduate students kicked off a research project that developed case studies of Idaho and a few surrounding states focusing on best practices in food security policy in the western U.S.

Jan 16, 2024. Brent Ling, Director of External Affairs at Wholesome Wave, shared how vitally important policy advocacy is to spur innovation in healthcare at the quarterly Idaho Produce Prescription Collaborative (IdPPC).

Advocate

Apr 15, 2024. The IHRTF rallied all Idahoans to contact their members of Congress to reject the House Ag Committee's desire to do away with the Farm Bill's Thrift Food Plan 2018 provision. 

Mar 14, 2024. The IHRTF Board Member, Dawn Pierce, also the National Community Organizing Manager with Hunger Free America, spoke with Channel 7 on Summer-EBT following approval of the Department of Health and Welfare's budget.

Mar 7, 2024. Governor Brad Little proclaimed that March 6, 2024, was National Nutrition Day in Idaho. Two IHRTF staff (Raigan Hetz and Oliver Thompson) spent the day in the rotunda of the Capitol. They advocated for legislators and their staff to help end hunger in Idaho.

Feb 9, 2024. The IHRTF Executive Director, Denise Dixon, was an invited guest at the USDA Roundtable on Rural Development. As a panel member, she discussed rural development in Idaho. Denise also reviewed the history and current work of the Task Force with Roundtable attendees.

Jan 12, 2024. Approximately 107,000 children would be eligible to receive Summer EBT. The IHRTF distributed a call to action, requesting Idahoans to advocate for the needs of Idaho's youth.
